Baseball Game Preview: Haverford Fords vs. Henderson Warriors

The Haverford Fords will head out on the road to challenge the Henderson Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Haverford is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Haverford will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Ridley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Fords came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 7-2 on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Gavin McClafferty tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Campbell McCormack, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cassidy, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Henderson unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Bishop Shanahan by a score of 4-3.

Shane Manuel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Henderson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Reinheimer, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Cole Ryan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Haverford's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Henderson, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
