It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Oaks Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Valencia Vikings 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

Sophia Debs spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Oaks Christian secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Reagan Beck, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Oaks Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Valencia, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-7 record.

Oaks Christian has already played their next game, a 14-4 win against Newbury Park on the 6th. As for Valencia, they will challenge West Ranch at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
