Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy South Homestead Comes Up Short

Somerset Academy South Homestead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 56-44 to the Mater Bay Academy Rays. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rays apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Mater Bay Academy was led to victory by Shandon Bullard and Jose Echane. Bullard posted 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Echane dropped a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds. Bullard is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Kevin Rodriguez was another key player, putting up eight points.

Somerset Academy South Homestead's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Mater Bay Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
