Hudson's Bay extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 30 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-14. They came up short against the Mark Morris Monarchs, falling 25-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Monarchs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-0 on Wednesday.
As for Mark Morris, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Considering they have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Mark Morris' part, Shyanne Sellers and Makenzie Henthorn made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Sellers didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Henthorn pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those 12 strikeouts gave Sellers a new career-high. At the plate, Sellers went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Henthorn got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Henthorn has hit this season.
In other batting news, Taylor Lee was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Megan Fugleberg, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
Looking ahead, Hudson's Bay will head out to face off against R.A. Long at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mark Morris will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' contest: after the Eagles face off against Washougal, they'll take on Mark Morris again at 5:30 p.m.
