Baseball Recap: Bishop Hartley Starts Season with Win on the Road

Bishop Hartley had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Buckeye Valley Barons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since April 23, 2024.

Bishop Hartley got a great performance from Malcolm Gillies as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Bishop Hartley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Moore, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Looking ahead, Bishop Hartley will challenge Bloom-Carroll at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Buckeye Valley, they will face off against Wheelersburg at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
