Volleyball Recap: Giada Nieves and Luciana Smith Secure Win for Johnstown-Monroe

Johnstown-Monroe won the last time they faced Westerville North and things went their way on Saturday too. The Johnnies skirted past the Warriors 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Johnnies have posted since September 24, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Johnstown-Monroe who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 12-25, 25-22.

Johnstown-Monroe was led to victory by Luciana Smith and Giada Nieves. Smith had 20 digs and two assists, while Nieves had seven digs. Smith is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Johnstown-Monroe's record now sits at 3-1. As for Westerville North, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Johnstown-Monroe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Groveport-Madison on the 23rd. As for Westerville North, they will face off against Hayes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
