Baseball Game Preview: Manassas Park Cougars vs. James Wood Colonels

The Manassas Park Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the James Wood Colonels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Manassas Park will be strutting in after a win while James Wood will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Manassas Park made easy work of Park View and carried off a 19-2 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Minh Huynh made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. That hit marked the first that he got this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wesley Howell, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Joshua Witz was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, James Wood came up short against Kettle Run on Wednesday, falling 7-1. The Colonels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

James Wood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Manassas Park, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.
