Football Game Preview: Southwind Jaguars vs. Germantown Red Devils + How To Watch

The Southwind Jaguars will take on the Germantown Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Southwind's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

On Friday, Southwind humbled PURE Academy with a 48-15 victory. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Royals are ranked 154th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kelvin Perkins produced another solid performance throwing for 316 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punching in a pair of TDs on the ground. Those 316 passing yards gave him a new career-high. 96 of Perkins' passing yards were hauled in by Shakim Atkinson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Southwind's defense and their four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Rosevelt Bates and Kaveous Middleton, who racked up all four sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Germantown was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 29-24 to Munford.

Southwind's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 44.1 points this season. As for Germantown, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
