Baseball Recap: South Newton Rebels vs. Fountain Central Mustangs
South Newton took care of business in their home opener on Saturday (barely). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Fountain Central Mustangs 9-8. This was payback for South Newton, who suffered a 14-11 loss the last time these two teams met.
South Newton let Micahel Dewing and Dominic Scott loose on the outfield. Dewing scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Scott went 2-for-4 with four RBI, a run, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Martin, who went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and a double.
South Newton will head out on the road to square off against North White at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. South Newton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Fountain Central, they will be playing at home against Riverton Parke at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
