Softball Recap: Summersville Wildcats vs. Eminence Redwings

Summersville put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past the Eminence Redwings 16-5. The win was nothing new for Summersville as they're now sitting on four straight.

Riley Buttress made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Buttress has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Buttress was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Summersville got a massive performance out of Tara Bryant, who scored three runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Bryant is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Kaytlin Martin, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3.

Summersville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Eminence, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Summersville will take on Willow Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Eminence, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cabool at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
