Recap: Serra Cavaliers vs. St. Paul Swordsmen
The Serra Cavaliers pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The contest between Serra and St. Paul wasn't particularly close, with Serra falling 76-61. Serra has not had much luck with St. Paul recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremiah Wilson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. The game was Wilson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kayleb Kearse, who scored 17 points.
Serra has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for St. Paul, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11.
Serra will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against St. Anthony at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. St. Anthony knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Serra likes a good challenge. As for St. Paul, they will be playing at home against St. Bernard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Bernard presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Paul in California (St. Bernard is ranked 135th, while St. Paul is ranked 290th).
