Baseball Game Preview: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Centerville Elks

For the second straight game, Fairmont will face off against Centerville. The Firebirds will head out to face off against the Elks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairmont will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Fairmont had just enough and edged out Centerville 3-2.

Brayden Vance tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four matchups.

At the plate, Fairmont's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Mastro, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Fairmont's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Centerville, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.
