Basketball Recap: Eagle River Starts Season with Victory Against Houston

Eagle River gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-22 win over the Houston Hawks. That's more bragging rights for the Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Eagle River can attribute much of their success to Gabby Palazzini, who posted 15 points. Those 15 points gave Palazzini a new career-high. Beverly Reed was another key player, putting up seven points.

Eagle River will take on Ketchikan in a tournament on December 27th. As for Houston, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Barrow at 8:00 a.m. on January 2, 2025.
