Baseball Recap: Chaparral Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Three must be Chaparral's lucky number: they beat Medicine Lodge with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Roadrunners had just enough and edged out the Indians 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Roadrunners have posted since April 25, 2024.

Carter Hostetler and Daxton Hostetler made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Hostetler didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Daxton pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Carter also tossed a walk, which is notable because Chaparral is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4-1 otherwise. At bat, Hostetler went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Daxton went 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits Daxton has posted over his last nine matchups.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Conner Hostetler, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Trace Hadsall also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Chaparral's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Medicine Lodge, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9-1.

When Chaparral and Medicine Lodge next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Roadrunners will take on Kingman and their five-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Medicine Lodge will try to stop Douglass' seven-game winning streak when they meet on Thursday.
