Preview: Crofton Warriors vs. Wayne Blue Devils
Crofton is 1-9 against Wayne since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Crofton Warriors have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Wayne Blue Devils at 6:03 p.m. on February 12th. Crofton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Wayne is ranked 36th).
On Saturday, Crofton was the victim of a tough 61-38 defeat at the hands of Norfolk Catholic. Crofton has struggled against Norfolk Catholic recently, as their contest on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Crofton got a solid performance out of Braxston Foxhoven, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Wayne beat Wynot 60-53 on Thursday.
Wayne got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Colson Nelsen out in front who scored 16 points along with two steals. Nelsen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiden Backer, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Crofton has not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Wayne, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
Crofton was taken down by Wayne 53-22 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Crofton was down 34-8.
