Softball Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons vs. University Lab Cubs

The St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the University Lab Cubs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Thomas Aquinas comes in on six and University Lab on three.

On Tuesday, St. Thomas Aquinas was able to grind out a solid victory over Sumner, taking the game 13-9.

Rylie Inzinna was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Leah Mayeur, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask University Lab). Everything went their way against Madison Prep Academy on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-2 win. While the Cubs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Morgan Singleton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Mary Whit Gammon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

University Lab was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .677. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

St. Thomas Aquinas' record now sits at 13-7. As for University Lab, their record is now 11-1.

St. Thomas Aquinas might still be hurting after the 18-2 defeat they got from University Lab when the teams last played back in February of 2025. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
