Softball Game Preview: Highland Tech Rams vs. Bessemer City Yellow Jackets

The Highland Tech Rams will face off against the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland Tech has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Highland Tech lost 14-6 to Cherryville on Thursday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Makaylee Gantt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and ten unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marin Wise was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Meredith Bolick was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run.

Meanwhile, Bessemer City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pinnacle Classical Academy.

Highland Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Bessemer City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
