Last Monday, things could have been worse for Lakeland, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-39 loss to Riverside. While losing is never fun, Lakeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 449th, while Riverside is ranked 81st).
Talin Vitzakovitch put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 14 points. His trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Noah Kutchmanich was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Meanwhile, Montrose lost to Forest City on the road by a decisive 58-40 margin on Thursday. Montrose has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Montrose, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Lakeland strolled past Montrose when the teams last played on January 2nd by a score of 73-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakeland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
