Basketball Recap: Flint Hill Comes Up Short

The Flint Hill Huskies ended up a good deal behind the St. Michael the Archangel Warriors on Saturday and lost 85-69. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Warriors are ranked 22nd).

Leading St. Michael the Archangel to victory were Amir Savage and Christian Myers. Savage almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Myers shot 47% from the field on his way to 22 points and seven assists. That's the most points Savage has posted since back in January. Latiff Jayce Jean-Phillipe was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 13 points and five boards.

Flint Hill has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for St. Michael the Archangel, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Flint Hill has already played their next game, a 71-52 loss against Saint James on the 16th. As for St. Michael the Archangel, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-42 victory against Christ Chapel Academy on the 16th.
