Baseball Recap: Fort Stockton Takes a Loss

Fort Stockton lost against Greenwood back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Panthers came up short against the Rangers, falling 7-1. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fort Stockton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gerry Diaz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run. Diaz is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 4-2 (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

Fort Stockton's defeat dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Greenwood, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Fort Stockton will challenge rival Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Greenwood is set to square off against their familiar foe Andrews at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rangers 3.5, the Mustangs 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
