Recap: Park View Patriots vs. Unity Reed Lions
There's no place like home for the Park View Patriots, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-41 win over Unity Reed on Wednesday. Given Park View's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Unity Reed is ranked 376th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Park View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Helstrom, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Helstrom has scored at least 25% of Park View's points. Another player making a difference was Kyra Hurley, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Park View's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Unity Reed, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Park View will be home for the holidays to greet Independence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Unity Reed, they will head out on the road to face off against Osbourn Park at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
