Volleyball Recap: Wilkes Central Eagles vs. Avery County Vikings

The Wilkes Central Eagles came up short against the Avery County Vikings on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Wilkes Central had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 22-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Avery County had a senior duo take command as Hallie Johnson had 21 assists and 15 digs and Kylie Holtsclaw had 14 digs and four aces. Holtsclaw has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Holtsclaw, who had 15 digs.

Wilkes Central now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Avery County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Wilkes Central will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on West Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Avery County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 win against West Wilkes on the 20th.
