Vintage and Soquel squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Vintage had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Soquel Knights. The Crushers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
While Vintage had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 13-25, 25-18.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Soquel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lily Juarez-Sapone, who had 11 digs and five aces. Juarez-Sapone has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last nine times she's played. Gemma Reyes was another key player, getting 20 digs.
Vintage now has a losing record at 16-17. As for Soquel, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-15 record this season.
