Baseball Recap: Penncrest Comes Up Short

Penncrest extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Conestoga Pioneers. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly four runs.

Jeremy Schneider and Landon Graham did some serious damage despite the final result: Schneider went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Graham went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Graham has launched this season.

As for Conestoga, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Conestoga's side, Max Brown looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Luke Hunter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Chase Cherny was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penncrest will welcome Upper Darby at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Conestoga, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Lower Merion at 3:45 p.m.
