The Martin County Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to Ayden - Grifton. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (65), Martin County still had to take the loss.
Martin County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Matthewson, who scored 17 points. The contest was Matthewson's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty'quaious Baker, who scored 16 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ayden - Grifton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jahmir Outlaw, who scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Josiha Crandell, who scored 15 points.
Martin County has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Ayden - Grifton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
