Montoursville's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Christian Banks, who gained 159 total yards and three touchdowns, and Eli Eck, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Banks' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 102 rushing yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Montoursville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Mifflinburg hadn't done well against Danville recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Ironmen, posting a 56-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Mifflinburg's win came from a few key players Montoursville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Landon Moser, who rushed for 96 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September. Chad Martin was another key player, rushing for 75 yards and one TD.
Montoursville's record is now 9-2. As for Mifflinburg, their record now sits at an identical 9-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Montoursville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 235.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mifflinburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 192.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Montoursville was taken down by Mifflinburg 35-7 in their previous matchup back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Moser, who rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also picked up 41 receiving yards and one score. Now that the Warriors know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
