Baseball Game Preview: Deerfield Demons vs. Lakeside Lutheran Warriors

The Deerfield Demons will face off against the Lakeside Lutheran Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Deerfield took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Parkview. The victory was some much needed relief for the Demons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Aiden Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Declan Pohlman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Luke Sigurslid was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lakeside Lutheran ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lake Country Lutheran 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Lakeside Lutheran pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Deerfield, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
