Valley is 9-1 against Vinalhaven since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Valley Cavaliers will square off against the Vinalhaven Vikings at 1:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Valley has 14 straight victories, Vinalhaven has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Valley escaped with a win against Dirigo by the margin of a single free throw, 54-53. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Cougars are ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Vinalhaven took a blow against Wiscasset on Thursday, falling 78-29.

Valley's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.1 points. As for Vinalhaven, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Everything came up roses for Valley against Vinalhaven in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured an 83-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
