Northtown lost to Chicago Hope Academy back in April of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Pumas came out on top in a nail-biter against Chicago Hope Academy, sneaking past 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pumas.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Northtown got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 22-25, 25-23.
Justin Pardo paced Northtown's offense, picking up seven kills. Pardo got some help from Peter Khem and his 11 assists. Khem also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Josue Gomez, racking up three apiece.
Northtown's record now sits at 2-0. As for Chicago Hope Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Northtown has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Steinmetz College Prep on the 3rd. As for Chicago Hope Academy, they will take on Westinghouse at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
