Volleyball Recap: Valdosta Comes Up Short

Valdosta was the 2-0 winner over Columbia when they last played one another on September 2nd, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Valdosta sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 18-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13.

When it comes to explaining why Valdosta lost, don't look at Maddie Sutherland. Despite the final result, she had 13 digs and two aces. Sutherland has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayli Case, who had ten digs and one assist.

Valdosta's loss dropped their record down to 17-14. As for Columbia, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Looking ahead, Valdosta will square off against Colquitt County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Packers have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Columbia, they have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Veterans on the 25th.
