Meanwhile, Willow Canyon strolled past South Mountain with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 34-19. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Willow Canyon found their leader in underclassman Joel Cooper, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Tyler Salas handled things on the ground, rushing for 91 yards.
Sunnyslope pushed their record up to 1-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Willow Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
