Basketball Game Preview: Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs vs. Anselmo-Merna Coyotes

The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Anselmo-Merna Coyotes on Tuesday. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.

On Saturday, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller was able to grind out a solid victory over Pleasanton, taking the game 53-41.

Cohen Rohde was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayce Boteo-Mazariegos, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Anselmo-Merna played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 61-38 to Central Valley. The Coyotes haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Anselmo-Merna's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller strolled past Anselmo-Merna when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 51-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
