Basketball Recap: Briton Phillips' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crimson Cliffs over Hurricane

Crimson Cliffs was the 80-68 winner over Hurricane when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hurricane Tigers.

Crimson Cliffs lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Briton Phillips, who went 6 for 11 to rack up 15 points. That's the most points Phillips has posted since back in December of 2024. Mckay Lindquist was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Leading Hurricane to victory were Brigham Kemp and Calan Hughes. Kemp went 9 of 15 en route to 26 points and five boards, while Hughes dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Kemp's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thailand Gubler, who had four points and 11 boards.

Crimson Cliffs' defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Hurricane, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Crimson Cliffs has already played their next game, a 58-48 victory against Pine View on the 7th. As for Hurricane, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-54 win against Snow Canyon on the 7th.
