Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern Wayne). Everything went their way against the Smithfield-Selma Spartans on Friday as they made off with a 20-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won eight in a row.
Morgan Brimberry was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off one hit. Brimberry was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Payton Strickland was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
