Basketball Recap: Mineral Ridge's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

After flying high against McKinley last Thursday, Mineral Ridge came back down to earth. The Mineral Ridge Rams fell 72-60 to the Ursuline Fighting Irish on Monday. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Mineral Ridge lost, don't look at Ava Hulett. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 30 points and 20 rebounds. Hulett's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Sullivan Sandy was another key player, going 6 for 14 en route to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Mineral Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Mineral Ridge's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Ursuline, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.

Mineral Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-41 victory against Lowellville on the 29th. Ursuline has also already played their next match (against Farrell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
