Basketball Recap: St. Teresa's Catholic Falls Despite Big Games from Dyland Rangel and Michael Richard

It was a good run, but St. Teresa's Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to the First Academy Lions 46-40. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 52-41.

St. Teresa's Catholic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Michael Richard, who posted 21 points, and Dyland Rangel, who put up 14 points. Those 21 points gave Richard a new career-high.

First Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jakson Bounds led the charge by putting up ten points. Logan James was another key player, earning 12 points.

St. Teresa's Catholic's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for First Academy, they moved to 1-10 with that victory, which also ended their 11-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Colquitt Christian Academy the next time they take the court. First Academy will host Colquitt Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, while St. Teresa's Catholic will host them at 5:00 p.m. on January 28th.
