Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Jena's 13th in Last 15 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Jena walked away with it. They beat the Kinder Yellowjackets on Saturday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Giants, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kiette Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 29 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Callie Decker was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Triniti Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Jena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Jena is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Kinder, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-7.

Jena wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Pine Prairie on the 2nd. Kinder does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
