Softball Recap: Pewamo-Westphalia Takes a Loss

Pewamo-Westphalia had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it four. They lost 8-1 to the Dansville Aggies. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 9-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Dansville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

For Dansville's part, Laci Neal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Neal has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Maddi Carter was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since May 3rd. Kaelee Foreman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pewamo-Westphalia beat Dansville by a score of 14-4 later that day.
