Baseball Recap: Lewis County Comes Up Short

Lewis County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lawrence County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lawrence County Wildcats by a score of 6-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Maddox Tanner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Bentley Kelsey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Lewis County now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Lawrence County, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

While Lewis County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
