East Valley had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lynden Lions 27-24. The win was just business as usual for the Red Devils, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.

Cody Gasseling produced another solid effort rushing for 132 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also picking up 31 receiving yards and one touchdown. He is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Berg, who threw for 105 yards and a pair of TDs.

East Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Lynden, they moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, East Valley will face off against Tumwater at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Thunderbirds' defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so the Red Devils' offense will have their work cut out for them. Lynden does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
