Volleyball Recap: Wellsboro Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home + How To Watch

If Wellsboro was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of South Williamsport on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets fell just short of the Towanda Black Knights by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Black Knights earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Wellsboro actually scored more points across those five sets (108-104), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 26-24, 25-19, 13-25, 16-14.

Despite the defeat, Wellsboro had strong showings from Maddy Cruttenden, who had 43 digs and three aces, and Taylor Main, who had 15 digs and two aces. Cruttenden is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Leading Towanda to victory were Karis Flynn and Lariah Long. Flynn had 20 digs, two blocks, and two aces, while Long had 19 digs, ten kills, and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Flynn a new career-high in assists (36). Another player making a difference was Caedence Wells, who had 12 digs and three aces.

Wellsboro's loss ended a six-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-4. As for Towanda, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Wellsboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Wyalusing Valley on the 25th. As for Towanda, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Montoursville on the 24th.
