Basketball Game Preview: Simla Cubs vs. Salida Spartans

The Simla Cubs will square off against the Salida Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Simla really took it to Kiowa for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-25 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-9.

Meanwhile, Salida entered their tilt with Rye on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 50-19 victory over the Thunderbolts. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Salida has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points per game. As for Simla, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
