Basketball Recap: Shaw Comes Up Short

Shaw won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 53-9 loss at the hands of the Simmons Blue Devils. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-7.

Simmons' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Akiah Prince, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Prince has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Vontasia Rush was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Shaw's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Simmons, the win keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.

Shaw won't have much time to rest: their next match is against McAdams at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Simmons, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against North Side at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
