Basketball Recap: Brocton Comes Up Short

Brocton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by the Westfield Wolverines 73-17. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 711th, while the Wolverines are ranked 311th).

Westfield was led to victory by Naomi Ottey and Mackenzie Schumaker. Ottey went 6-for-12 to rack up 16 points and five rebounds, while Schumaker went 6-for-13 en route to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Ottey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reagan Weingart, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Brocton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Westfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Brocton has already played their next game, a 68-28 loss against Chautauqua Lake on the 6th. As for Westfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-24 defeat against Panama on the 6th.
