Pleasant Hill is 1-9 against Calhoun since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Wolves will host the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pleasant Hill 3.9, Calhoun 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Pleasant Hill's victory against Liberty wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolves had just enough and edged out the Eagles 2-1 on Monday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Ava Wombles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Calhoun had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Indians a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 14 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Pleasant Hill, Calhoun also got a great game from a two-way player: Audrey Gilman. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gilman was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Pelletier, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Annie Wilson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Calhoun kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Calhoun pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pleasant Hill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Calhoun struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Pleasant Hill might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Calhoun in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
