Softball Recap: Jena Extends Winning Streak to Six

Jena waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Sterlington Panthers by a score of 7-2. For the Giants, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Kiette Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Triniti Williams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 matchups. Callie Decker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Jena's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Sterlington, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6.

Jena wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-0 win against Franklin Parish on the 3rd. As for Sterlington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Bastrop on the 3rd.
