Soccer Game Preview: Homestead vs. Fremont

The Homestead Mustangs will challenge the Fremont Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Homestead will be strutting in after a win while Fremont will be coming in after a defeat.

Homestead is headed into the contest having not lost since December 21 and will look to keep things rolling. They had just enough and edged Los Gatos out 2-1 on Wednesday. Owen Gibbs had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Fremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Mountain View, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 756th, while the Spartans are ranked 39th).

Fremont's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-1. As for Homestead, they now have a winning record of 4-3-5.
