Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Bearcats vs. Stanwood Spartans

The Monroe Bearcats will head out on the road to challenge the Stanwood Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monroe can't be too worried about heading out to take on Stanwood: they just beat Meadowdale at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Monroe pulled ahead with a 50-49 photo finish over Meadowdale on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bearcats.

Meanwhile, Stanwood blew past Mount Vernon, posting a 59-23 victory. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 25 points or more this season.

Stanwood is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.7 points. As for Monroe, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Monroe was taken down by Stanwood 74-27 when the teams last played back in January. Can Monroe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
