Basketball Recap: Red Bay Comes Up Short

Red Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 50-20 loss at the hands of the Winfield Pirates. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Red Bay saw an underclassman step up: freshman Khalil Luster posted six points and 14 rebounds. Luster is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played.

Red Bay's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for Winfield, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

Red Bay won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hubbertville at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Hubbertville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests. Winfield and Florence will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
