Baseball Recap: Gilbert Classical Academy Comes Up Short

Gilbert Classical Academy had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-13 to make it seven. They came up short against the Superior Panthers, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 last Friday.

Gilbert Classical Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thorsten Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Superior, their record is now 6-12-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Superior's side, they let Antonio Lopez and Noah Jimenez run wild. Lopez went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Jimenez got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Jimenez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryland Duarte, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilbert Classical Academy will square off against Glendale Prep Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Superior, they will face off against Lincoln Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lightning have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
